This is just about ready to glue on the back. Here are the specs and materials list:

Plantilla is from a Tezanos-Perez Maestro
Depth at tail block = 104mm
Depth at heel block = 97mm
Solera depression 2.5mm at bridge
Braces "sprung-in",

Back/Sides: Madasgascar Rosewood from Vikwood
Back Braces: Spanish Cedar
Top: Engelmann with lots of hazelfletch (sourced from a local supplier here in Portland)
Top Braces: Sitka
Dentellones: Spanish Cedar
Rosette: Spalted Maple
Back Lining: Solid Sitka
Neck: Spanish Cedar

Also, www.microsoft.com offers a free Image Resizer
under Power Toys area. It becomes part of Windows XP.
If you are Mac, forget that, just use a photo software
and resize to about 480 by 600 for normal images.

Great work by the way, love the headstock and the
little spruce braces up the sides. Those will pay

Where did you get the Tezanos plantilla? I have a couple of friends in Spain who own Tezanos flamencas and they love them.

Thanks for resizing my pictures - I will figure this out for the next posting.

I traced the plantilla and took the dimensions from a Tezanos-Perez that I bought last year - I believe it is the very last Maestro they built together. I am using a standard 7 fan Torres-Hauser bracing as modified by Jeffery Elliott instead of the assymetric 5 fan on the original - I think for the next one I will replicate the layout of the 5 fan system by putting a compact fluorescent lamp in the original and taking a long exposure of the braces from the outside top - it is a very unusual system, but the sound speaks for itself (Martha Masters plays one of these...)

Anyway - I will post finished instrument pictures when this one is done.

Nice, very clean work. Great choice on woods. I'm using a very similar bracing pattern on a couple I'm building. What do you think of the engelmann so far, I'm using it for the first time on one of my builds. Also, what are the threaded inserts on your solera braces used for?

The threaded inserts are for shop-built spool clamps to hold the sides to the top while glueing on the dentellones (or kerfed lining) and for glueing on the back. I cut the spools off a large dowell and glued on some cork. The dished-out solera fits into the workboard extension with the moveable blocks, and the neck extension is planed to the proper neck relief - at least I hope it is right, I just built this assembly jig a few weeks ago! These pictures show the parts. So far this jig is way better than using a bunch of assorted clamps and cauls for assembly.

I like the Engelmann very much - not as stiff as German so I start out a little thicker (~2.9mm) before selectively thinning around the bridge graft. I have several tops from the same piece of tree cut many years ago and they are working out well.

My solera slots accept either a spool clamp or a vertical brace, and there are extra holes for more spool clamps. I like the way yours works better, more clamping options.
